The Palio in Siena is a horse race happening twice a summer in Siena, Italy. It is an ancient competition pitting 10 of the neighborhoods against each other in the form of a 90-second horse race around the famous Il Campo city square. I’m here on the Friday proceeding the July 2 race and the prelim competitions are kicking off right now with each Contrada (neighborhood) parading their prized horse through the streets. #youradventurestartshere
